Detail information about job Graduate Automation Engineer. Terms and conditions vacancy

  • Entry Level/Graduate Position
  • Growing Automation industry
  • Diverse Industry Exposure and Skills Development

We have a graduate level role for an Automation/Controls/Electrical Engineer. We're a small business with strong growth and a great reputation with our clients for delivering novel solutions to challenging issues. Being small, this could be your chance to get a diverse range of skills developed through training, travel and real world applied problem solving.

Our aim is to solve customer problems using our skills and the latest in technology. It could be some small modifications to an existing machine's software, a complete reprogram or a complete refit with new control, electrical etc. It might be an entirely new machine to a unique problem, or a new process. We look for the right solution for the clients and not just to 'sell' our services - projects can be small, or quite large, depending on what's needed to solve the problem before us.

What do you need to bring as a graduate with us?

  • A Bachelors Degree in Electrical, Control, Computer or Mechatronics Engineering. (No Aeronautical or Mechanical Engineering, please. Your application will not be considered)
  • Your Degree MUST already be recognised by Engineers Australia. No exceptions.
  • Be living in the greater Sydney area already and have Australian work rights already granted.  No international applications, you're application will not be considered. If you're interstate, you need to include in your cover letter how you're going to take on this role and relocate.
  • A practical approach and mind set. People with a Phd, Masters or "Research Assistants" need not apply - you're application will not be considered. The more hands on skills you have the happier you'll be working with us - we get dirty! We're not 'desk jockeys' with a lot of our time spent in the field delivering (60/40 field to office split).
  • Familiarity with common industrial hand tools. Part of what we do is looking 'outside the box' and our ideal person will be ready and able to grab the tools and help with the problem in front of them
  • Strong interest in Automation, Electrical and control systems. That means knowing what industrial automation is and what sort of work you might be doing.

What are we expecting you to do?

  • First off, we will train you and we're not looking for specific experience in industry
  • Electrical Drafting and eventually design. We'll teach you the tools and what to do with them
  • Programming and Software development for HMI, SCADA, MES, SQL and PLC systems. Some experience with VBA or C/C++ would be an advantage. Familiarity with common PLC programming languages also an advantage
  • Attend site with our engineers to meet clients and support commissioning projects
  • Help fault find and resolve customer issues
  • Work in our workshop to support staff with the projects we're completing, both on the computer and using your hands.
  • Think. Show passion for what you're doing. Be willing to act autonomously and show initiative.

We've been told by our customers we "punch above our weight class" because we deliver big solutions in a clever way with a small team. If you want to 'join the fight' we'd love to hear from you!
