Hunter H2O is looking for a positive, motivated and experienced person to lead a HSEQ project. The initial project will be for 6-8 months however there is a high probability of ongoing employment. The role can be flexible to suit the right candidate as long as the activities are completed to schedule.        

 

Key Responsibilities

  • This role is to manage and lead the health, safety, environmental and quality (HSEQ) initiatives and development for Hunter H2O.
  • The candidate will be responsible for implementing and coordinating HSEQ activities across the organisation. Activities include system developments identified from internal/external audits, updates based on legislative and code changes, new initiatives from strategic plan and industry best practices.
  • Advise executive leadership about responsibilities and updates to the HSEQ system where changes to the Acts and Codes impact the organisation.
  • Report monthly to the executive management team on WHS statistics and status of the development activities.
  • Lead the audits to maintain certification against AS 4801, IOS 9001 and ISO 14001 and ensure ongoing compliance and continuous improvement.
  • Lead, facilitate and provide guidance on WHS, Environmental and Quality matters to the internal committee.
  • Prepare and deliver appropriate training and education materials including induction materials, forms, templates and system updates to all employees.
  • Ensure hazards and unsafe workplace conditions and work practices are identified, reported and are being acted on. Monitor corrective actions to ensure risks are eliminated, isolated or minimised and the various registers are updated.
  • Lead the investigation of accidents, incidents, near misses and unsafe working conditions including reporting of identified hazards and appropriate risk control measures to the executive team.
  • Assist in compliance processes related to visitors and any usage of contractors.
  • Ensure each facility has adequate fire protection equipment and there are current trained wardens. Coordinate the activities of the First Aiders to ensure there is adequate coverage and their training is appropriate and current. Ensure there are first aid kits and other equipment available, that they are complete and current.

 

Skills

  • Tertiary qualification in WHS
  • Qualifications in project management is desired
  • Project Management Office (PMO) experience  
  • Relevant industry experience as a HSEQ manager/advisor that is transferable to the water and wastewater industry
  • A strong understanding and working knowledge of HSE legislation, Australian Standards and Codes of Practice
  • A strong understanding of Quality and Project Management systems
  • Strong communications and leadership skills 
  • Experience with facilitation and training (Formal Training & Assessment qualifications desirable)
  • Experience with incident investigations
