In this role

You will implement and embed the lean/continuous improvement regime within the facility, focusing on 5S, SOP writing and training, quick changeovers and the implementation of line operator changeovers. You will optimise all systems functionality throughout the facility.

You will be accountable, under the direction of the Manufacturing & Engineering Manager, for site investigations, feasibility studies, projects, and setting of plant operating parameters to ensure that well engineered solutions are adopted to maintain and improve production in a cost effective manner.

Key accountabilities include

  • To implement a sustainable Lean / Continuous Improvement programme, while helping to build and maintain a continuous improvement culture within the facility.
  • Drive all manufacturing, maintenance and distribution personnel in progressing the lean philosophy ensuring continuous improvements across all areas of business processes are achieved.
  • To ensure that projects and processes are managed and developed in a manner which achieve the targeted measures.
  • To monitor, maintain and promote safety within the department, ensuring compliance with all relevant policies.
  • Assist the Manufacturing & Engineering Manager to develop methods to optimise existing processes and improve efficiencies and wastage.
  • Provide advice on the specification, development and commissioning of new processes.
  • Act as troubleshooter for the process reviews and with project teams ensuring work/project/review schedules remain on time.
  • Measure plant costs, efficiencies, yields and quality of product as directed.
  • Write the relevant SOP’s for all packaging and maintenance processes, and train and assess all personnel accordingly.

Other accountabilities include

  • To maintain effective communication throughout the department using a variety of mediums (team meetings, 1-1s, visual management, etc)
  • Facilitates and develops productive cross-functional working relationships within the business
  • To actively develop team working within the department
  • Prepare clear, concise reports and submissions based on accurate process review statistics as required.
  • Maintain appropriate project plans to track and improve on process improvements and process review management.
  • Collect and record relevant data to assist in maintaining and developing records and work models.
  • Liaising with various Corporate Departments as required (refer internal interfaces)

Essential knowledge and skills 

Functional

  • Be able to implement and train Lean Processes to employees of all levels
  • Fully understand the philosophy of all control systems within manufacturing and  retain and utilise this knowledge and skill
  • Demonstrates health and safety understanding and compliance
  • Relevant IT system knowledge
  • Ability to obtain information and identify key subjects required to understand strategic issues

Required experience 

  • Extensive experience in implementation and running  a Lean  / Continuous Improvement  programme and culture
  • Engineering qualifications
  • Previous relevant Project Management experience is desirable

Essential qualifications 

Degree – Qualified in Engineering and Lean Manufacturing
