Following a change in business structure aligned with the ongoing growth oportunities, we currently have opportunities for three experienced Design Drafters to join us as Discipline Team Leads in the APA Design Office team.  These are permanent roles and can be Melbourne, Brisbane or Perth based.

Reporting to the Engineering Design Manager, these roles will be responsible for the leadership of the respective discipline Design Drafting team as well as providing senior level design drafting services for the delivery of capital projects. Working autonomously, the successful candidates will make day-to-day decisions relating to work priorities and workload management for themselves and for their team. The position is accountable for the quality, integrity and accuracy of content and advice provided.

In addition to the delivery of design drafting services, the Team Lead will be responsible for the:

• Line management of team, including: resource management, personal development, team performance, recruitment, training, and mentorship
• Support of the Engineering teams with development of design; 3D models, drawings, and associated Drawing Office deliverables
• Preparation of preliminary designs, 3D models, drawing packages, and associated documentation, for concept and tender.
• Preparation of detailed designs, 3D models, drawing packages, and associated deliverables, for construction, installation and commissioning.
• Production of as-built 3D models and drawings to enable field technicians to perform maintenance, checks and repairs to plant over the asset lifecycle.

A key focus of this position is to ensure all activities are undertaken to the appropriate Australian and International Standards, APA’s safety requirements, APA’s internal standards and procedures and all relevant state and federal legislative requirements.

You should be skilled in the use of Computer Aided Drafting (CAD) 2D /3D and database driven design platforms relevant to your discipline.  (Autodesk C3D (Civil) & P3D (Mechanical); Elecdes Suite (E&I)) applicable to a design drawing office with a minimum of 7 years’ experience in database centric design. 

You will have a knowledge of application and requirements of the relevant Oil and Gas Industry standards and associated codes and a thorough understanding and proficiency with standard design and drafting practices. 

Experience in the drafting of P&ID’s will be highly regarded, particularly the functionality of AutoCAD P&ID and AutoCAD Plant 3D.  In addition, applicants should be able to demonstrate strong team leadership behaviours, with a focus on best practice delivery.
