This position is an opportunity to become involved in the area of flood management, hydrology and dam safety. The position will undertake and assist in hydrological and hydraulic studies associated with Seqwater's business, particularly flood studies and investigations. The work will provide positive impact upon the company's business performance in the short and long terms.

 

The position will assist in hydrologic and hydraulic assessments, work in the areas of dam safety and licencing compliance of all Seqwater dams and provide flood forecasting and hydrological modelling advice. There is the opportunity to be involved in the training of staff in relation to hydrology and flood management, assist in engineering projects relating to dam safety, hydrography, bulk water data management and flood assessment and become a trained flood engineer.

 

Seqwater is unique in its responsibilities in dam safety, flood management and water supply operations and looks after the whole water cycle in South East Qld. This is an opportunity to become involved in the water industry and work with a leading Water Authority.

  

 

About you

To see you succeed in this values-led organisation you will have the ability to self-manage and undertake work with a degree of independence as well as:

 

  • Engineering Degree Civil, or Environmental Engineering with experience in water engineering sufficient to gain RPEQ in the area of civil engineering in due course
  • Unrestricted Driver's Licence.
  • High level knowledge of:
    • All aspects relating to hydrology and flood forecasting and flood management, as they relate to surface water storages and catchments ;
    • All aspects relating to flood forecasting, flood management and operation of dams and storages during flood conditions;
    • Flood operations and dam safety compliance; and
    • The regulatory frameworks that impacts on regional flood management and dam safety.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in a related role
  • Experience in dam hydrology will be highly regarded
  • Communication skills of a reasonable level to undertake discussions and negotiations with stakeholders is desirable
  • Technical skills
    • Experience in the use of hydrological modelling techniques
    • Experience in water source management and operation such as dams, weirs and storages.
    • Experience in providing comprehensive analysis and reports for senior management decision-making.
    • Experience in using other contemporary analysis technologies such as GIS, database and spreadsheet analysis

This position has been graded in accordance with Seqwater's EBA as PO3 with a salary of $91,775.91 plus up to 12.75% superannuation
