One of our clients based in Sydney CBD, is looking for an Environmental Technical Officer to join their busy team for 5 months.

The purpose of the role is to support the delivery and ongoing development of the Energy Savings Scheme (ESS), and related programs, for households, businesses and government.

The successful candidate will:

  • Delivery of projects to agreed standards, on time and on budget.
  • Assist in the development, implementation and promotion of the ESS, and related programs, to support positive environmental, economic and social outcomes, and to champion the ESS, and related programs, to households, businesses, and government.
  • Provide guidance, advice and/or training to internal and external stakeholders to develop knowledge and an understanding of program goals and objectives, and to build capacity for using systems and procedures.
  • Review and monitor the ongoing effectiveness, relevance and responsiveness of the ESS, and related programs, including ESS Rule content, processes and procedures.
  • Contribute to the monitoring and evaluation of key performance indicators and program outcomes through effective data collection and analysis.
  • Prepare and provide input into the preparation of reports, submissions, briefing notes and ministerial correspondence on a range of operational issues in accordance with government protocols.
  • Represent and advocate the ESS, and related programs, interests on a range of forums.

    Key challenges:
  • Understanding the complexities of the ESS and related programs, developing and recommending innovative solutions and escalating issues when required.
  • Exercising confidentiality, diplomacy and discretion at all times.
  • Delivering high quality project outcomes, often within tight timelines and with limited resources, whilst managing competing priorities.
  • Managing expectations from a range of internal and external stakeholders.

    Essential requirements:
  • Extensive experience within the energy efficiency sector, with knowledge and experience of the operational and strategic requirements for successful delivery of an Energy Efficiency Obligation Scheme (such as the ESS in NSW).
  • Proven project management skills including the demonstrated ability to deliver agreed outcomes, and demonstrated time management and organisational skills, with proven ability to prioritise competing demands.
  • Experience in preparing analytical reports and the collection, analysis and dissemination of large amounts of diverse information.
  • Experience working with data management and analysis tools (such as MS Excel), and project management software (such as MS Project).
  • Proven ability to communicate complex information in an audience-appropriate manner and successfully liaise with and engage internal and external clients.
