GHD Advisory operates globally. Our advisors provide services to clients across Australia, New Zealand, UK, USA, Canada, North Africa and Asia-Pacific.

 

The Regulation and Access team works with our clients throughout Australia and New Zealand to provide economic regulation and access advisory services to regulators and regulated businesses in the power network, water, gas, rail, and port sectors.  This team is currently seeking an Advisor (Power Networks) to commence in GHD’s Sydney (St Leonard’s) office.

 

As an Advisor (Power Networks) in the team, you will be responsible for:

  • Advising on implementing economic-regulation policy that relates to power transmission and distribution networks (e.g. by considering the National Electricity Rules and recent AER determinations)

  • Supporting prudency and efficiency reviews of capital and operating costs of power networks and other infrastructure sectors

  • Developing spreadsheet models to assess the efficiency of utility expenditure or to determine the value of assets (e.g. via a Depreciated Optimised Replacement Cost method)

  • Advising on real and nominal cost escalators for utility expenditure and infrastructure

  • Supporting the development of business cases for power-network infrastructure expenditure

  • Advising on access arrangements, such as connections to power network infrastructure.

  • Supporting the development of network models for constraint analysis and marginal loss factor analysis in SINCAL.

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Ideally, have a double degree in Electrical Engineering and Economics/Commerce/Business or a degree in Electrical or Electrical and Electronic Engineering and a further qualification in Economics/Commerce/Business.

  • Have excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Have high attention to detail

  • Enjoy building networks and working with others
