The Hatch Mackay office is currently seeking an Experienced Mechanical Engineer to assist with an increasing workload that includes work on challenging and interesting Projects.

The successful candidate will be broadly responsible for establishing system requirements, performing functional analyses, defining design criteria, preparing engineering calculations, technical specifications, data sheets and reports. In addition, they will be required to develop, or provide input into 3D models and 2D drawings.


Key Responsibilities of this role will also include:

  • Assisting the Engineering Manager/Lead Mechanical Engineer with defining and the delivery of project requirements as they relate to scope, cost and schedule
  • Performing system analyses, establishing user requirements, analyzing system functional and performance requirements, defining design criteria, and establishing system layouts and designs
  • Preparing engineering calculations such as hydraulic modeling, stress analysis, equipment sizing and tank, pressure vessel and bin design and ensuring it satisfies user and system requirements
  • Preparing technical specifications and data sheets based on input received from other disciplines
  • Preparing and contributing to technical memos and reports
  • Providing input to engineering, operating and capital cost estimates and design reviews
  • Preparing and/or reviewing project standard specifications and design criteria
  • Assisting in the compilation and delivery of monthly engineering status reports
  • Assisting with technical queries raised during the construction phase and commissioning of systems on site as required

Qualifications, skills and experience we are ideally seeking:

  • A degree in Mechanical Engineering with solid post graduate experience
  • Demonstrated design and practical engineering experience in mining, metals, minerals processing or heavy industry environment
  • Previous experience and ability to travel and work on client sites as required
  • Experience with fire water and piping systems will be considered favourably.
  • Have current knowledge pertinent to mechanical engineering compliance with relevant engineering standards and statutory regulations
  • Excellent attitude towards safety and a demonstrated ability to comply with safety requirements
  • Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with our internal and external clients
