About the role
Located in Nunawading and reporting to the General Manager Opposite Lock, the Senior Product Development Engineer is accountable for the completion of the design and engineering product program for OL, by planning, organising and assisting with all elements of the product programs schedule. This role will involve travel overseas when required.
Key responsibilities:
- Develop, validate and oversee the manufacture of quality 4 x 4 products in line with established benchmarks and KPI’s
- Ensuring that all products developed meet the required standards (ADR’s, etc)
- Ensure that all appropriate documentation is completed for the OL product development program
- Provide estimates in timelines and cost for the development of products as required
- Develop concept and prototype designs in Solidworks CAD
- Input into the workload and output of the other engineering team members and contractors, to ensure timelines and KPI’s are meet
- Support quality and the timely issue resolution and rectification of any warranty issues
- Off tool prototype sample fitment for new and updated designed product
Key skills required:
- Engineering Degree (or min 5-7 years’ experience in similar engineering roles with an understanding of engineering principles)
- Significant experience in automotive design
- Ability to supervise others and ensure others achieve workload and business goals
- Excellent project management skills and agility managing multiple projects
- Well-organised, with high attention to detail and documentation
- Advanced level: 3D CAD design skills in Solidworks
- Ability to 3D scan vehicles for product development
- In depth understanding of production processes
- Competent in MS Office
- Ability to fit off tool samples to vehicles as required
