About the Role

This leadership role focuses on coordinating and supervising the effective and efficient opeation of the Building Approval and Certification Team.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Provide quality advice and support to the Manager of Development Services.
  • Maintain knowledge of evolving legislation relative to building development such as the National Construction Code of Australia
  • Assess and certify all classes of development type under the provisions of the EPA Act 1979 and the LGA for Building Information Certificates and other minor developments, in accordance with Council's delegated authority.
  • Determining Development Applications, Construction Certificates, Building Information Certificates and the like in accordance with the requirements of legislation and Council policy and procedures.

About You

The succesful applicant will need relevant tertiary qualifications in Building Surveying or a related field as well an A1 (unlimited) accrediation.

The below criteria is also essential:

  • Comprehensive understanding of the Building Code of Australia and knowledge of relevant legislation such as LGA, Environmental Planning and Assessment Act etc.
  • A solid working knowledge of legislative processes applicable to Local Government as they relate to building and septic tank installation.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading and managing high performing teams.
  • High level of written and verbal communication skills.
  • Current Class C Drivers License.
  • Experience with local government is highly desirable
