About the Position: 

We are currently seeking highly motivated and enthusiastic Construction Supervisors for projects based in Christchurch or Rolleston. These positions will be permanent, full time with commencement June/ July 2018.

Reporting to the Site Manager, you will be responsible for the coordination and supervision of blue collar employees, sub-contractors, plant, materials and logistics, ensuring all construction activities are controlled and coordinated to the Client’s standard while meeting/exceeding quality, time, safety and profit objectives.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and schedule day to day organisation/coordination of; plant, materials, equipment, blue collar employees and subcontractor services for the work to ensure construction program, HSEQ and time requirements are met.
  • Complete daily site dairies and timesheets.
  •  Compliance with short range program (SRP), medium range program (MRP) and main contract program as developed by the Project team
  • Liaise with client representatives over site based issues, working towards time efficient resolutions
  • Report regularly to Line Manager on project performance and costs against company objectives
  • Ensure quality of construction is to the requirements of the construction drawings and specifications
  • Carry out inspection of all work areas assigned to you ready for engineer sign off
  • Build and sustain relationships with clients, partners, suppliers, consultants, regulators and key community stakeholders to enhance our reputation and optimise our access to work opportunities
  • Drives the Project under your control to achieve target objectives
  • Monitor construction activities against budget and assist in corrective action measures where deviations occur.
  • Carry out workplace and task hazard identification, risk assessments and control i.e. JHA’s and SWMS’s.
  • Foster a spirit of teamwork and unity among team members that allows for conflict resolution, appreciation of diversity, cohesiveness, integrity, supportiveness and working effectively together to enable employee and departmental success.

 

Skills and Experience:

  • Trade qualification and/or experience in construction related discipline as required.
  • Preferably a minimum 5 years previous Leading Hand or Supervisory experience. 
  • Certificate IV in Leadership and Management or equivalent preferred.
  • Construction induction white card.
  • Current Australian ‘C’ class manual Drivers Licence.
  • Strong proven qualities of leadership, integrity, loyalty and performance management.
  • Proven performance on successful projects with an exemplary safety track record.

It is essential that you have a clear criminal history and understand that you will be required to go through a full criminal history check with the Ministry of Justice.
