We are seeking an experienced Health & Safety specialist,  to manage safety on our construction site within a prescribed safety system.

This role, will provide  Health & Safety and Environment advice and assistance and to the Project Manager on our construction site and will work closely with the Project Manager,  to achieve safe outcomes for the project.  The role reports to the HSEQ Manager located in Corporate office. 

The person will have a track record of providing safety leadership and fundamental to achieving success in this position will be your ability to build and sustain a safety culture supported by effective day to day management of established systems and policies.   You have proven ability to 'operationalise' safety in a construction environment. 

Tasks:

  • Provide coaching, advice and assistance to line managers and employees on HSEQ matters, policies, processes and issues and initiatives.
  • Actively promote a safety first culture.
  • Conducts adhoc research on WHS issues and develops recommendations to resolve issues.
  • Record and maintains records associated with HSEQ matters and maintains a library of relevant codes, regulations and reference material to assist in the operation of AQM.
  • Compile, interpret and maintain HSEQ reporting and statistics.
  • Maintain up to date WHS training, licences, and permit records for AQM.
  • Communicate HSEQ information accurately and clearly to employees.
  • Liaise with line managers to promote and ensure HSEQ policy and compliance.
  • Where assigned, investigates and reports on accidents, incidents, hazards and risks.
  • Conduct HSEQ audits and inspections and makes recommendations for eliminating and reducing risk.
  • Consult with employees and line managers on minimising the impact of AQM operations and construction activities on the environment.
  • Identify and co-ordinate and deliver within capability HSEQ training requirements and works with line managers to close any training gaps.
  • Undertake administrative duties associated with HSEQ.

 

What we're looking for:

  • Minimum requirement of Certificate IV in WHS/OHS.
  • Additional certifications /training an advantage (e.g. incident management, auditing, training and assessment, high risk licences)
  • Strong Construction experience with demonstrated comprehensive knowledge of high risk construction work is preferred.
  • High-level computer, written, verbal communication skills and demonstrated ability to manage and influence internal and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated understanding of integrated Quality, Health and Safety and Environmental management systems is an advantage.

Previous experience working with water treatment projects and government instrumentalities will be well regarded. The role is located in Charters Towers and is either residential or DIDO from Townsville
