About the Company

You get connected to a company you know are pretty active in the Australian construction arena, they’re hiring and it’s pretty exciting, they want to know more about you! You have some initial meetings and they get you pretty excited by the sector they’re in or an interesting project they’re working on. Good news, they think you’re pretty good too, and why shouldn’t they?

  • Your current market knowledge is really fresh,
  • you have solid contacts throughout industry,
  • and you’re all over the latest software.

You’re the full package and a nice package gets offered your way. It’s heady days.

Then, a little while down the track, you’re working on that same JV, or on that same pigeon holed sector and you realise there’s a new breed of employee coming through. New workers, young and old, are joining and they have the latest training in modelling, they’ve worked on the high profile buildings you're seeing springing up on the east coast ; all the hot industries here in Sydney and they seem to know someone who’s working with this consultancy, this contractor, this body or on this project - and that exciting new work on your company’s radar, it’s leapfrogging you and heading their way.

You remember back when you joined and the sparkly glint in your eyes wasn’t being returned by the old hands and you wondered why. Now you realise you’re the old hand and their look is now yours.

Your career has stalled.

The company loved what you brought to them, then promptly forgot what it was that excited you so much about them. You were hot property and you got to go to that fresh new project. Then, work got in the way, you weren’t provided training and you kept plugging away in that one area where you knew what you were doing anyway.

All of a sudden you realise those industry briefings, newsletters updates and webcasts you’ve subscribed to weren’t enough - and you’re fast becoming overtaken.

Not with this consultancy.

About the Role

Here, their consultants are systematically trained in providing contemporary services, they’re the most highly skilled consultants in the field of planning. They’ll have you working on a range of projects - some in the team are even working contractor side in providing 4D BIM planning services. There’s at least three significant projects they’re engaged on and on the back of successfully delivering these services, believe further projects will come on board.

You’ll be highly skilled and highly versed in challenging projects - and the clients will love you.

On top of this, they promote a culture of family and work balance. Admittedly there will be times you need to go beyond the full work week, but that’s the exception to the rule.

This senior role is responsible for program and schedule management including creating and monitoring programs for clients as well as management reports and internal tracking. It involves the preparation and ongoing maintenance of detailed critical path schedules using Project Management software.

Through Delay Analysis, you’ll regularly undertake detailed project analysis to determine the cause and effect of delay-related issues such as Extensions of Time (EOT) and variation claims.

Working in team, you’ll be comfortable delegating work, and accepting tasks that are directed your way.

About You

You get excited by being ahead of the curve and enjoy working on high profile and complex projects. Of course to get a first class opportunity like this, you’ll need to be bringing a few things of your own.

You’ll need

  • experience working in consultancy land - multiple short term packages or projects
  • advanced knowledge of project management software and programming logic including;
    • Project
    • Powerproject
    • Primavera
    • Synchro
  • to be skilled at creating
    • professional looking schedules/programmes using building logic
    • Creation of 4D files and the physical linking of a schedule (programme) to a 3D model using Synchro
    • Technical graphs and dashboards that go beyond Gantt charts
  • to conduct regular onsite visits to building sites that require status reporting
  • bring advanced knowledge in the practical use of 4D planning tools
  • have advanced understanding of Australian building work practices and on site conditions.
  • hold at the minimum a Degree or Diploma in Engineering or Building.

Are we asking a lot? Well yes, though….

The Benefits

First class training.

First class.

Seriously, this team knows they’re only as good as their consultants and their consultants will only be valuable if their offer is contemporary. The training will be advanced and systematic.

The pay is reflective of the number of complex, high profile commercial construction projects you have worked on. I know the pay structure and it’s reflective of this advanced Sydney construction market.

On top of this, you’ll report directly to the state manager and have open lines of communication to the multi-decade tenured directors.
