Client Details
My client is a diverse management and delivery practice providing advisory services, project management, cost management and construction services for public and private sector clients.
The Cost Management service provides strategic planning and feasibility stage cost advice aimed at providing value for money for planned capital and operating expenditure and safeguarding commercial positions. As distinct from a standard quantity surveying service focused on capital developments, they provide tailored and commercial cost advice designed to be complementary to the other service offerings.
Description
The Cost Consultant will provide specialist advice to the Advisory, Project Management, and Construction Services teams in the development of feasibility studies and business cases, in peer reviewing cost plans and assessments from other Quantity Surveyors, and in developing detailed cost estimates and trade breakdowns where they take on the role of Construction Manager for clients. The Cost Consultant will operate under the Associate Director and play a key role in the delivery of advisory commissions within the whole company. In most cases, the Consultant will provide advice to the broader team led by a Project Director, Construction Manager or Commercial Advisory Senior Consultant. The role is to provide cost advice and cost estimates to clients and other company service offerings being a key member of the national Cost Management team. Consultants are expected to have the capacity to work effectively across multiple project commissions.
Profile
- Between 2 to 6 years’ experience working as a Contract Administrator, Quantity Surveyor or Cost Planner
- A relevant degree in Construction management, Financial planning or Quantity Surveying
- Prior experience working with a Head Contractor or Cost Consultancy/Professional Quantity Surveying Firm
- Pre and Post contract experience
- A professional client-side manner with good stakeholder engagement ability
- Proficient written and verbal communication skills
