As a supplier and builder of commercial shadehouses, commercial tunnel houses, domestic shadehouses, greenhouses and protective covers for over 20 years, the Fernland team knows that quality must come first. Therefore, high quality, durable materials are used throughout.  The weldmesh shadehouses are constructed with heavily galvanised weldmesh and covered with premium commercial grade shadecloth protected by a 10 year UV warranty; and the commercial grade shadehouses and tunnel houses are constructed with galvanised pipe and covered with premium commercial grade Growrite Shadecloth, Hailguard, Plastics and other fabrics.

The Fernland head office is based on the Sunshine Coast which is headquarters to the primary warehouse distribution centre for all the nursery supplies, turf care products, horticultural structures and landscape supplies; the retail store outlet; and the office administration centre.

ABOUT YOUR FUTURE POSITION

As the Shadehouse Installation Leading Hand, you will work with, supervise and coordinate the installation team ensuring the efficient installation and assembly of shadehouses within clients' premises.  You will ensure the timely completion of the work with a high level of workmanship.  Also, you will be required to prepare the components necessary prior to installation or despatch of kit-form structures.

Mechanically adept, you know how to safely use tools and equipment, understand the importance of planning and leading the installation processes from preparation to the finished product i.e. tools and material required, setting out and assembly sequence.

ABOUT YOU

As a qualified carpenter/tradesperson with experience in, set out, tension wiring and working with steel and concrete, you have at least 5 years' experience in the construction industry.  You also have experience operating a mini digger, and hold an elevated work platform licence and a current forklift licence.

Ideally, you will have hands on experience:

  • Installing shadehouses | nursery buildings | sheds (highly desirable)
  • Managing subcontractors (desirable)
  • Producing well finished quality products (essential).

You will be able to demonstrate:

You are:

  • Physically fit and have the strength and stamina required as the role involves heavy lifting and manual labour.
  • Able to work outside in inclement weather—extreme heat, cold
  • Prepared to work away from home at least once a month (1-3 nights).
