We are currently seeking a Principal Civil Estimator to be based in our office at Brisbane. 

Reporting to the General Manager Civil, the successful candidate will be required to undertake effective estimating work to support the continued growth of our Civil business. Regular travel to project sites will be required. 

Key role tasks:

• Monitor the performance of all systems for which you have ownership and act accordingly on any recommendations for change to improve business outcomes, and make changes if authorised; 
• Identify and seek approval (from your Manager) for development of project specific systems where Golding systems do not exist or do not provide coverage of required scope;
• Review operational outputs and identify performance trends and opportunities for improvement;
• Develop recommendations for improvement of Golding systems or the implementation of improvements where they are site specific systems;
• Champion continuous improvement and facilitate sharing of knowledge across sites;
• Develop and maintain a sound knowledge of trends and changes in the technical, operational, social and regulatory fields that apply to the work of your role such that you have the requisite knowledge base to perform the advisory work of your role;
• Establish resources for the project according to the estimate and contractual variations or refer to your Manager where outside your authority;
• Resolve conflicting demands for resources across the project;
• Participate in internal site audits as required;
• Provide recommendations on contractual matters to Project Managers and confirm contracts are being administered effectively;
• Manage systems to identify divergence from contract scope and resolve interpretation issues with the Client or escalate unresolved issues to your Manager; 
• Collate the required plans, budgets and forecasts for the Civil Division;
• Maintain awareness for potential project opportunities and submit these to your Manager or Business Development department for determining action as appropriate.

  Key capability requirements:

• Tertiary qualifications in Civil Engineering or related field are preferred
• Experience in the construction of road works, earthworks and drainage to Main Roads standards ($10m - $100m value)
• High level analytical skills and commercial acumen
• Sound communication skills including the ability to interact with people at all levels within the business, and external stakeholders and clients
• Strong attention to detail and drive, working unsupervised to produce accurate estimates within tight timeframes
• Demonstrated experience in first principles estimating using Expert Estimator or similar industry-standard software
