The Role:

Due to continued growth, an exciting opportunity is available for a motivated and hardworking individual to join our Insurance Builders team in the role of Building Supervisor / Estimator.

In this diverse role, you will assess and quote on works and engage, coordinate and manage trades during the restoration process for large loss insurance claims. You will be responsible for providing regular repair progress updates to customers and ensuring a high level of service is provided at all times.

Due to the nature of the role, regular travel around Coffs Harbour and surrounding areas will be required.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Take ownership of large loss insurance jobs from commencement to completion
  • Write building insurance assessment reports for insurance companies
  • Estimate for building re-instatement works
  • Monitor quality audit reports & ensure items are actioned accordingly
  • Engage, coordinate & manage trades during the restoration process for buildings damaged by insurable events in Coffs Harbour & surrounding areas
  • Communicate & negotiate with trades to track the progress of jobs
  • Liaise between clients & insurance companies
  • Coordinate access to properties with insured parties
  • Attend & contribute to meetings
  • Complete monthly budget reporting on all projects
  • Dispute/issue resolution, as required
  • Ensure all inspections, certificates of final inspection from Building Surveyor & relevant documentation is signed off
  • Ensure purchase order processes are followed
  • Review monthly job cost reports to ensure supervisors are reporting accurately
  • Invoicing
  • Ensure all company OH&S policies are followed at all times
 Key Selection Criteria:
  • Extensive experience as a carpenter or within a similar supervisory role
  • Relevant building trade qualification
  • Background in large loss insurance building or commercial construction
  • Excellent communication & customer service skills
  • Strong computer skills
  • Relationship building skills
  • Ability to manage multiple & competing priorities
  • Ability to be empathetic to the needs of the client
  • Good work ethic
  • Computer literacy
  • Understanding of OHS practices, legislation, regulations and current market rates/trades
  • Current motor vehicle licence
  • Prior experience in the insurance building industry advantageous, however not essential
