About the role

To ensure our ongoing success in the Queensland market, Watpac is currently looking for an Estimator to join the Qld Construction team to work on large on a high profile projects. Based from our Newstead head office, your role will be to compile tenders and cost plans in a concise and accurate manor enabling management to make informed decisions leading to competitive and profitable projects.

Key responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Prepare tenders on the basis of Lump Sum, D&C, GMP, turnkey and other forms of delivery;
  • Establish and manage project cost plans from conception to completion;
  • Monitor project costs, providing cost alternatives and cost reporting as required;
  • Be skilled in the feasibility and costing of development projects, for internal or external clients and be able to assist the team in skilfully negotiating tenders, conditions etc. with client.

About you

The successful candidate will have the following skills and qualifications:

  • A bachelor degree in Quantity Surveying or a similar relevant discipline;
  • Proven experience as an Estimator or Cost Planner on commercial construction projects;
  • Clear understanding of industry construction techniques and proficient and proven skills in estimating software;
  • Understanding of construction contracts, design and the resultant cost implications;
  • Ability to communicate, influence and build effective relationships at all levels of the external and internal business environment.
