Mainswest are a privately owned West Australian business operating in the field of underground utility installations and upgrades, specialising in Horizontal Directional Drilling. Due to increased business growth we are seeking a Horizontal Directional Driller / Crew Leader experienced in Vermeer and Ditch Witch equipment to join our expanding team on a permanent full-time basis.
Our current contracts are in the communications infrastructure sector with new contracts due to commence shortly in the State Underground Power upgrade program in the Perth Metro area north of the river. The ideal candidate will be competent and experienced in the following:
- Operating Ditch Witch JT2020 and JT922 drills and tracking using TKQ and Recon systems
- Operating Vermeer D23x30 drill and tracking with Digitrak Falcon systems
- Reading and deciphering DBYD plans to locate and protect all services and complete dig permits
- Assessing the job site and determining optimum bore path and drilling mud mix to suit ground conditions
- Completing detailed construction paperwork including pre-starts, JHA's, bore logs and dig permits
- Leading a small crew to ensure the most efficient use of resource
Mainswest has a zero-asset strike mentality and a focus on locating and protecting other utility provider’s assets, so a high regard for health and safety whilst working under pressure and within tight timeframes is critical for success in this role. Taking pride in the maintenance of your equipment, working unsupervised and as part of a team and having strong communication and problem-solving skills are required, as are the following tickets/licenses:
- Current HR unrestricted truck licence
- Construction Blue/White card, First Aid Certificate and CPR
- Valid excavator ticket and recent VOC and other relevant plant tickets
- Must hold accreditation RIICCM202D Identify, Locate and Protect Underground Services
- NBN and delivery partner inducted
- Western Power NAC card
A Cert III in Trenchless Technology or Cert III in Drilling Operations is highly regarded but not essential as training for this qualification will be provided for the right candidate.
Pre-employment and ongoing alcohol and drug screening is conducted.
