As a result of the company’s continued growth, an excellent opportunity has become available for an experienced Fabrication Estimator to join our Henderson based team.
About the Role
Reporting to the Estimating Coordinator, the main function of the role will be to ensure that detailed and accurate quotations and estimates are made for steelwork fabrication and repair / maintenance tenders as required by the company's Clients. All work is carried out in-house and detailed estimation and planning is required.
The successful applicant will be responsible for scoping, planning, estimating and fully resourcing fabrication work in our Henderson workshop.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Review scope of work documents and Client specifications
- Reading and understanding detailed drawings and material take-offs
- Accurately calculate fabrication man-hours
- Obtain competitive quotes for the provision of materials and services to complete the work
- Partake in tender reviews
- Assist in the preparation and submission of tenders
- Liaise with Production team and plan jobs from start to completion
- Liaise with QA/QC Team to ensure closing reports are submitted to the client on delivery
To be successful for this position, you must possess the following:
- Relevant trade qualifications (Fabrication)
- Post-trade qualifications will be well regarded
- Competency in reading designs and drawings
- Extensive experience in estimating
- Commitment to safety and quality
- Be a self-starter and able to work unsupervised
- The ability to read and understand complex drawings and complete accurate material take-offs
- Capable of identifying ambiguities in drawings and Tender Documents
- Analytical and problem solving skills
- Advanced MS Office skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Computer literacy
- Highly motivated and able to work unsupervised
- Industry exposure or knowledge of fabrication (preferred)
- Completing the required documentation for project work
- Read and understand detailed designs for current work
- Assisting in preparation and submission of tender documentation
