A growing dynamic main contractor, our client is seeking an experienced OHS Manager to join their professional and highly skilled team. With a challenging and progressive workplace, our client has a great team culture and fast track progression opportunities.

The company specialises in civil works, industrial, retail, office fit outs, maintenance works among others. A great culture and supportive management unit with strong systems and resources in place to get the job done professionally and to an exceptional level of quality.

As OHS Manager you will be working on a variety of projects across all divisions. Strong knowledge of current legislation is ideal.

Reporting to: Construction Manager

Sample Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Completing the daily administration and implementation of WHS Plans on the construction site and conduct site inductions in accordance with the plan.
  • Carry out initial review of completed subcontractor SWMS and sign off all statements for all trades onsite or under supervision.
  • Conduct regular safety site inspection walks to ensure the site meets all requirements of the WHS and Injury Management policies and procedures.
  • Implementation and support of the sustainability initiatives on projects.
  • Respond to WHS issues such as serious accident investigation and subcontractor control issues, escalating as required.
  • Complete WHS reports and inspections on site.
  • Report areas of improvement for site processes and practices in relation to WHS issues.
  • Ensure WHS performance standards for your site are met.
  • Find and address potential WHS problem areas at your site and assist in finding solutions.

Essential Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Tertiary qualification in either Engineering, Construction, Occupational Health & Safety or a building related qualification or trade with additional experience to equate to a degree
  • Minimum 4-5 years in construction across a broad range of environments and positions
  • Construction Safety Induction (White) card
  • Occupational First Aid Certificate
  • Safety Professional Qualification will be favourable
  • Working knowledge of State and Federal legislation in regards to Occupational WHS
  • Ability to conduct thorough site and workplace inspections, and report findings, wite incident reports etc
  • Ability to design and implement effective training courses
  • Strong influencing and negotiation skills
  • Understanding of construction processes
  • Able to develop rapport and liaise with staff across all levels
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite
