Position Summary

Directly Responsible to the Estimating Manager and Project Manager, the role is responsible for assisting with the development and submission of Tenders and for the Contract Administration of projects including preparation of sub-contracts and supply agreements and the ongoing administration of both the Head Contract and Subcontracts.

Duties and Responsibilities Include:

  • Document and facilitate sub-contractor and supplier tender documents and distribution lists inclusive of any tender addendums or clarification notices
  • Provide measurement of quantities in line with the Company’s contracting strategy
  • Provide analysis of quotations and pricing of works from first principles
  • Evaluate head contract and sub-contract progress claims and approve for payment.
  • Draft general contractual correspondence and maintain correspondence registers with client/sub-contractors for Variations (VQ), Notices of Delay (NOD), Extensions of Time (EOT) and Technical Queries (TQ).
  • As necessary liaise with Senior Management, for clarification and direction about legal aspects and liabilities.
  • Liaise with sub-contractors to ensure all relevant insurances are current and legal, i.e. workers compensation.
  • Stay informed and up to date with any changes relating to Australian Standards/Regulations, Applicable legislations and Construction Contracts.
  • Perform other duties within the organisation that may be necessary to suit operational requirements
  • Take responsibility for your own safety, uphold the Company OHS&E policies and participate in Company OHS&E initiatives


Core Competencies

  • Self-motivated, well time managed & punctual.
  • Must have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a project team environment with acceptance of direction from Managers.
  • Willingness to be diverse within project environment and versatility to adapt to changing conditions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to analyse, understand and interpret commercial conditions in all tender documents, head contracts and sub-contracts along with key elements of statutory legislation and regulations.
  • Demonstrated negotiation and analytical skills are critical

Qualifications

  • Formal qualifications in Engineering or Construction Management or equivalent are highly regarded – but equivalent previous experience may also qualify.
  • Proficiency in a Job Costing, Estimating and Accounting software will be highly regarded.
  • Ideal candidates will have 5 years of post-graduate experience

Location

  • Generally based in our head office in Applecross
  • Will involve periodic visits to our regional sites
  • May involve periods of work on our regional sites
