Our client is a known leader in the waste management industry across Australia, providing advanced solutions to a broad range of customers. They have a unique opportunity for a hands-on Operations Manager with a construction background, who will be responsible for leading the business based in the Western suburbs.

Responsibilities:

• Ensuring smooth operation of the landfill including ongoing (road) construction, permitting, leachate/gas management.
• Minimizing operational costs while maximizing productivity and maintaining safety and environmental compliance.
• Monitoring and reducing turnaround times for trucks (600/day) in and out of site.
• Acting as a liaison, where necessary, for community relationships. Ensuring the compliance of relevant standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient operations.
• Meeting all financial review dates and corporate directed programs in a timely fashion. Overseeing personnel needs of the department including selecting, coaching, and training employees and evaluating employee performance.
• Supervising 20-25 employees, including managing leads and staff members to achieve set targets and outcomes.
• Providing elaborate quotes to customers increasing profitability of the business.
• Responsible that all site equipment is operational and ensuring effective service delivery to clients.

Skills and experience

• Proven experience in managing operational businesses within the construction industry
• Excellent stakeholder management skills combined with a commercial mindset
• Strong background in Profit and Loss, Scheduling and Forecast Planning
• Expert in regards to legislative and compliances within the construction industry
