Our client is a national civil contractor who excel within utility infrastructure delivery with both private and state clients. Our client's project exposure is within state utility programs on both Facilities and Networks. This contractor is at the forefront of the growing utility industry and have outstanding relationships with the key utility stakeholders here in NSW within the following areas. 

Water, (Sydney Water, Hunter Water and WaterNSW)
Electrical (AusGrid, TransGrid and Essential Energy)
Gas (Jemena) 

We have been engaged to source a Senior Estimator to join the National precontracts team of this leading national contractor based in Sydney. The primary purpose of this opportunity is to bolster their pre - contracts capability to optimise margin for future bids and give the group more ability to tender carefully and efficiently. 

When joining this contractor, you will be joining a people driven business that has genuine interest for their team’s health and wellbeing. They are a key player in each state for excellent charity work, and as a result there are regular fundraisers which sees the teams come closer together. Sportingly, this group has an excellent after work soccer and footy team, which once a year has the teams attended national competitions respectively. 

The operating office for this role is based in the Lower North Shore and is very accessible day to day for your work commute either by car, bus or train. The working location is fantastic, with a very professional working environment. 

Experience and skills

• A solid understanding of first principle estimating on utility infrastructure projects
• Proven experience in Estimating Water Infrastructure projects – Pipelines, Water and Waste Water Pump stations, Sewer, trunk water mains and rising mains.
• Fluidity with estimating, costing and accounting software – Expert Estimator, Cubit or Buildsoft
• Carry out quantity take-offs, formulation and submission of tenders
• Produce estimates from bill of quantities
• Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
• Proficient with planning, Procurement and Budget approvals
• Costing of Civil works
• Design understanding and delivery methodology
• Excellent communication and negotiation ability
• Tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering or Quantity Surveying 

Reporting to the Chief Estimator, its incredibly important you can:

• Review tender documentation from clients and proceed to the preparation of Cost estimates for proposal and submission
• Attended site meetings to gauge what is required from the client – this is usually done with the Senior PM’s and the EGM of NSW.
