The Infrastructure

WestConnex is Australia’s largest road infrastructure project. WestConnex is part of a broader government transport plan, which includes improved public transport such as Sydney Metro and light rail, and better road network connections to support Tomorrow’s Sydney.

Delivered in three stages, WestConnex will;

  • widen the M4 Motorway and extend it in underground tunnels between Homebush and Haberfield
  • double road capacity along the M5 East corridor with the New M5 tunnels running underground from St Peters to Kingsgrove
  • join them together via the M4-M5 Link tunnel to form a seamless traffic-light-free motorway
  • enable a connection to Sydney Airport and Port Botany via Sydney Gateway
  • provide a western bypass of the Sydney CBD
  • provide connections to the Western Harbour Tunnel and Beaches Link.

WestConnex will significantly reduce travel times for motorists in the Sydney area and deliver more than $AUD20 billion in economic benefits to the state of New South Wales (NSW).

The Company – Fulton Hogan Egis Operations and Maintenance (FHEOM)

Sydney Motorway Corporation (SMC) is delivering the project and has awarded the contract for the operation and maintenance of WestConnex to Fulton Hogan Egis O&M Pty Ltd (FHEOM). Egis, through its Australian subsidiary Egis Projects Asia Pacific, and Fulton Hogan Construction each hold 50% of the shares in FHEOM

The Job

As part of Westconnex, FHEOM is currently seeking a QSE/ICMS Manager to join our team on a permanent basis on the project.  Reporting to the Operation & Maintenance Manager, you will be responsible for duties including, however, not limited to;

  • Developing, implementing and maintaining the Integrated Contract Management System (ICMS)
  • Developing and implementing the HSEQ Plans
  • Identifying areas for improvement on quality, safety and environmental matters
  • Review of SWMS and EWMS
  • Overall responsibility for the development, implementation, reporting and auditing of the quality, safety and environmental management system for the M4 and M5. 
  • Lead the implementation and administration of QSE programs
  • Conduct initial QSE inductions for new FHEOM employees and subcontractors

The Candidate

The successful applicant for this position will have the following skill sets;

  • Exposure to large complex projects (Mandatory)
  • Real compliance focus with significant reporting requirements
  • Previous experience in environmental, safety and quality, ideally with exposure to road maintenance programs
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Proven experience in risk strategy, policy and procedures.
