Construction Manager – Civil and Electrical

About the Business and the role

Family owned and established in 2005, DJK Electrical Services Pty Ltd supports the industry with over 150 years combined experience in the Electrical, Infrastructure and Civil sectors. The Business consists of three (3) main Divisions;

  • Infrastructure
  • Service
  • Building Services

The Construction Manager reports directly to the Director and is based in our Head Office in Meadowbrook QLD and is predominantly assigned to the Infrastructure division. Given that the nature of the role is split between both site-based activities and office-based, the Construction Manager is required to travel in and around the Greater Brisbane area in support of the role therefore a current manual drivers license is required in addition to intermediate to advanced computer skills, particularly in MS Office.

Who are we looking for?

In order to meet the minimum requirements for this role it is mandatory that you have the following:

  • A minimum of 5+ years’ experience, ideally within civil construction industry with electrical experience and highly desirable to have exposure working on sub-divisions.
  • Drive the program on track with the technical experience to complete the job within budget constraints
  • End to end management of Project financials including the completion of Profit and Loss statements
  • Demonstrated a track record of supply authority experience with Energex, Ergon and Essential Energy
  • Management of a number of fast-paced Projects simultaneously, will also have experience leading a positive cultured and high performing team of both civil construction workers and electricians in addition to a number of Sub-Contractors
  • Driving and leading a positive culture in relation to the adherence to all statutory laws, Company and Client Policies and Procedures
  • Development and maintenance of strong working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders with clear and transparent professional communication
  • Direct experience with the HV/LV switching operations and writing HV/LV sheets both electronically and paper-based
  • A thorough understanding of Supply Authority regulations and maintain a current working knowledge of same
  • A thorough understanding of Construction Manuals and Constructability supply authority projects and ability to apply working knowledge
  • Support, guidance and mentoring of team members for their personal and professional development
  • Experience with overhead, Estates and Commercial
  • Superior Customer service and communication skills
  • Experience with infrastructure projects such as public lighting, traffic signals, LCC, rate 3 lighting and ITS would be highly regarded
  • Managing all Client communication
  • Contribution to the Variation process from end to end ensuring all relevant personnel are trained in the collection of satisfactory evidence and are well informed of the time frames and the impact to the Business should the application for Variation be rejected
  • Development and submission of reports to Client and DJK
  • Ability and experience to write Switching sheets

The successful candidate will:

  • Be a licensed Electrical Fitter Mechanic in Queensland
  • Have experience in construction projects with competing deadlines in both lump sum and cost reimbursable projects
  • Hold a current Qld Drivers license and have a clear traffic history
  • Have the capability to pass and be willing to complete a Pre-Employment Medical including Drug and Alcohol screen and fitness testing
  • Have extensive demonstrated experience in Supervising teams in Infrastructure Projects
  • Have previous experience to plan and monitor projects within budget constraints and in line with customer requirements
  • Be committed to a Quality Management, OHS&E system
  • Foster relationships with colleagues and clients
  • have demonstrated experience in construction preferably in electrical
  • have knowledge of utility systems and processes
  • have strong commercial acumen
