THE PROJECT
Nexus Delivery is a joint venture between Acciona and Ferrovial Agroman, established to design and construct the TSRC. The $1.6 billion Toowoomba Second Range Crossing is a 41km heavy vehicle route jointly funded by the Australian and Queensland Governments on an 80:20 funding split arrangement.
The route is designed to increase freight efficiency and significantly improve driver safety and community amenity by removing heavy vehicles from Toowoomba’s CBD.
THE ROLE
Nexus Delivery is currently seeking an experienced Health and Safety Advisor to join our team. Reporting to our Health and Safety Coordinator, this position will provide advice, support and guidance to the construction team. The successful candidate will assist in the safe completion of construction activities ensuring compliance with the health and safety contractual and statutory obligations.
The duties of this position will include but are not limited to:
- Provide health and safety support and direction to all employees and sub-contractors working in work area;
- Provide advice to the construction team on the health and safety practices, safety controls and a wide range of compliance standards when performing scaffold, formwork, craneage and steel fixing works;
- Conduct regular subcontractor site safety checks;
- Ensure compliance with all applicable health, safety and environmental legislation;
- Liaise with relevant authorities for the project regarding health and safety issues;
- Facilitate and assist the project management team when conducting accident and incident investigations; and
- Facilitate ICAM investigations.
LOCATION
Please note that this position is based in Toowoomba.
THE PERSON
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience working in the civil infrastructure sector;
- Demonstrated civil infrastructure experience with the following works is essential for the position -
- Bridge construction
- Working at heights
- Scaffolding
- Formwork
- Cranes
- Steel fixing
- Expert knowledge of the relevant health and safety legislation;
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to challenge undesirable safety behaviour in a constructive manner;
- Demonstrated experience investigating safety incidents with experience in facilitating ICAM investigations;
- The ability to demonstrate pro-active engagement with all levels of project staff to drive and promote leadership and behavioural change on the project; and
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in health and safety will be highly desirable.
