Due to continued expansion this successful entity is seeking a property maintenance leader for its Newcastle and Hunter Valley operations.  Our client is a progressive and dynamic employer, allowing autonomy and scope for its employees within a supportive team structure.  As a proven Facilities Manager you will be charged with running an experienced in-house maintenance team and large pool of external subcontractors, ensuring efficient and timely project delivery across a diverse property portfolio.

As the Contractors Manager and leader in this area, you will be in charge and accountable for all financial and operational contract activities.  This includes coordinating, scheduling, resourcing, budgeting, reporting and ultimate delivery of maintenance-focused projects to meet ongoing deadlines.  Maintenance will involve ongoing routine and preventative scheduled action, mission critical emergency response action, and new minor or major projects and works including new development, additions, backlogs, fit-outs, and upgrades.

Your day to day role will include:

• autonomously managing a team of maintenance focused project managers and subcontractors to ensure consistent performance
• reporting on project plans and ensuring internal and external KPIs within contracts are continually met
• managing the financial and operational performance of the unit (running budgets and pricing of works)
• overviewing quality assurance, safety and compliance aspects
• managing escalated issues and attending site visits
• external stakeholder engagement and customer relationship building with third parties which may include government bodies, owners, operators and their employees and various subcontractors
• internal relationship building with in-house maintenance team and management team
• business development and ongoing identification of growth opportunities utilising key relationships  

As an integral member of this growing organisation, your attributes and skills will include:

• formal qualifications project management or building and construction management or related discipline
• demonstrated facilities management or assets management execution – managing subcontractors and ensuring performance
• demonstrated maintenance supervision / project management supervision
• a construction and building background with proven experience in maintaining property facilities or assets; such as hospitals, aged care facilities, airports or other public service buildings and structures.  This industry exposure may also include public use spaces, public housing, residential, retail or commercial premises.
• proven management experience in leading, mentoring and training teams of maintenance staff to consistently deliver on multiple projects
• a genuine customer service focus and strong negotiation and influencing skills to build and maintain key relationships with all stakeholders in a collaborative manner
• proven contract and financial administration
• sound financial analysis and computer skills are a given.
