Senior Building Services Quantity Surveyor

Due to the continued expansion of my clients highly successful team, I am now sourcing an experienced and enthusiastic Senior Mechanical & Electrical Quantity Surveyor/Cost planner for their Melbourne office. My client is arguably the number 1 PQS firm in Melbourne with an impressive portfolio of work in multiple sectors.

The successful candidate will be a senior member of the team. Dealing with cost control, planning, forecasting and estimation.

Experience required

The ideal candidate will have construction experience and an industry recognized Degree in Quantity Surveying/Construction Management. You will need to show a clear understanding & have a proven track record of the management & implementation of the following key responsibilities.

Cost Planning including:
Preparation of cost budgets and appraisals
Preparation of cost plans
Provide advice and opinion in respect of our client development plans and expectations
Value engineering studies
Procurement including:
Providing advice on procurement strategy
Assembling and seeking agreement to long and short tender lists
Preparing and issuing tender documents.
Running a competitive tender process including managing queries from tendering contractors
Managing and contributing to structured and documented tender evaluations
Preparation of Contract Recommendation Reports
Preparation of contract documents
Post Contract Quantity Surveying including:
Verifying applications for interim payments
Managing change control in accordance with contracts
Producing cost reports and cost forecasting

Person specification

Quantity Surveyor (cost planner) with relevant experience in Mechanical and Electrical Services within the local market (ideally Melbourne)
MRICS, AIQS OR RICS or professionally qualified in either a surveying or engineering discipline
Technical background with a degree in quantity surveying, engineering, or another construction related subject or equivalent
Pre and Post contract experience of large complex projects
Feasibility and cost planning, procurement advice, tender documentation and post contract services
Well organised, diligent, proactive, assertive, well-disciplined and commercially astute
Excellent communication and presentation skills both written and verbal
Excellent customer service, communication and client/external interface skills
Stakeholder management with a clear focus on developing client accounts and forging new business relationships
A track record of effective working with teams and managing projects by prioritising workloads and delivering to deadlines
A team player, outgoing, flexible, enthusiastic and ambitious
Ability to identify and develop potential opportunities to secure more business for my client.
