Our Opportunity

Reporting to the Quality and HSE Manager, this challenging role will see you play an active role in championing health, safety and environmental systems and programmes that support Thales’ core activities in our Darwin sites.

In support of handling site HSE activity, you’ll find yourself partnering with a variety of internal and external groups and will have the opportunity to create a positive impact toward the future success of our operations and initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support to patrol boat repair and site activities by driving the implementation of HSE plans, programs, and strategies
  • Conduct HSE improvement activities – audits, inspections, investigations, and work observations
  • Facilitate HSE hazard and incident reporting, and their follow-up corrective actions
  • Assist with site emergency readiness by performing rehearsals with the workforce
  • Establish and maintain a close relationship with project managers, Navy and project teams to ensure understanding of quality management objectives and expectations

About You

  • Formal qualification in WHS, additional qualifications in related disciplines will be viewed favourably
  • Knowledge and experience in HSEQ Management Systems, Procedures and Legislation
  • Experience working in a ship building/repair or similar heavy engineering industry
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to interact with a variety of stakeholders
  • You will have a keen eye for detail and the ability to resolve highly complex problems
  • Strong knowledge of Quality Assurance Management

It is essential that you are an Australian Citizen to be eligible for a Defence Security
