HRS have been engaged to exclusively recruit a Design Manager for their client. This client is a National contractor that is privately owned. They largely work with repeat clients which accounts for over 60% of their business and have successfully delivered in the Aged Care, Retail, Commercial and Health sectors. They have been operating in the QLD Space for over 30 years and have a very strong staff retention in the business. 

The Position:

This role will a new addition to the team in the Brisbane working with two Design Managers and the pre-construction team. You will take ownership of your own projects from inception to throughout the construction phase working with external consultants, clients and stakeholders.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Monitor and manage the performance of external consultants.
  • Prepare design budgets and time schedules.
  • Co-ordinate design activities to ensure the achievement of quality, completion and design budget objectives.
  • Manage the process of milestone design reviews including ensuring that client sign-off is achieved and recorded at appropriate stages.
  • Ensure that design change control processes are effective.
  • Assisting in the conversion of project opportunities
  • Liaising with clients to develop design briefs in accordance with cost plans
  • Managing designs in accordance with cost plans and construction programmes
  • Monitoring design quality throughout the construction process

To be considered for this role you will need to possess and demonstrate the following:
  • At least 5 years proven experience with mid or top tier head contractors
  • Relevant building and tertiary qualifications
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels
  • Computer literacy and experience with reporting systems
  • Sound leadership skills and solid problem solving abilities
  • An energetic and dynamic approach to Construction
  • Sound knowledge of OH&S and IR matters
  • Project and cost management responsibilities 
  • Proven ability to identify and implement design solutions
  • Strong interpersonal skills and stakeholder management
