ABOUT CFMEU

CFMEU QLD/NT Branch (Construction Workers Divisional Branch) is a progressive union committed to advancing the wages, conditions, and wellbeing of its membership.

The CFMEU Qld/NT Branch covers workers in the construction industry working on and off site. We also have members working in other industries/sectors including local and state government, timber, maintenance, manufacturing and more. The union's successful bargaining campaigns continue to deliver fair wages and better conditions for its members.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The CFMEU Qld/NT Branch is looking to employ a Digital Campaigns & Communications Officer with strong union values. The Digital Campaigns and Communications Officer will be responsible for building the digital reach, brand and online organising capacity of the CFMEU. The CFMEU is on the front lines of campaigns designed to promote and defend the rights of workers.

Responsibilities will include helping craft, execute and analyse performance of online campaign plans and objectives; mobilising union members and supporters. The Digital Campaigns and Communications Officer will work closely with the Political Officer and elected officers.

The position will have responsibility for developing timely and high quality online communications and producing engaging content for members and supporters including memes, online articles and union materials.

This position will monitor social media and online news platforms for opportunities to engage with our members and supporters of CFMEU and involve them in regular campaign activities. The position will also have responsibility for recognising and responding to opportunities online as they arise.

The Digital Campaigns and Communications Officer will also be responsible for writing for a range of mediums and purposes including speeches, media releases, printed materials, videos and campaign emails.

SELECTION CRITERIA

The skills, knowledge and abilities required for this position are:

  • Minimum 1 year experience in campaign work.
  • Outstanding written communication skills.
  • Knowledge and experience using social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter & Instagram.
  • Experience using Nation Builder or similar campaign platforms.
  • Experience in producing and editing videos.
  • A commitment to the Trade Union Movement and our values.
  • Persuasive writing/editing skills and attention to detail with an ability to write for and relate to a diverse range of audiences.
  • Ability to create quality content, including media releases, feature articles, industrial and professional articles, news stories, profile pieces, editorial comment, emails and blog posts.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment and the initiative to work independently.
  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to work to timelines under pressure.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills
  • Good judgement and a sense of humour.

DESIRABLE CRITERIA

  • Graphic Design
  • Previous experience of segmentation of email lists
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications will be highly regarded
  • Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite
  • Photography

The Digital Campaign and Communications Officer will report to the Divisional Branch Secretary.

The Digital Campaign & Media Communications Officer position is available on a permanent full time basis with generous conditions and entitlements dependent on skills and experience.
