About the opportunity
Reporting to the Senior Commercial Specialist, we have an opportunity available for a Commercial Specialist to join us for an 18 month fixed term contract based in our Melbourne CBD office. This role will be part of the project delivery team and involves the construction of a start-of-line gas compressor facility and transmission pipeline of approximately 60km.
The Commercial Specialist will be responsible for establishing contracts and managing contractors and suppliers to ensure contract delivery supports the overall project delivery schedule and budget.
Other key responsibilities include;
- Develop tender packages for assigned program,
- Coordinate tender process,
- Negotiate and implement contracts for goods, works and services required for the Project.
- Contract management including analysis and management of:
- payment claims
- contractor claims, variation and extension of time
- contract expenditure
- contractual compliance
- contractor performance
- contractual performance.
- Administration of assigned program of contracts for the Project,
- Reporting on contract and contractor performance for the Project.
What we’re looking for
The successful candidate will be tertiary qualified, preferably with a business, law and/or finance degree. The candidate must have a strong knowledge of contract management methodologies, with a competent understanding of the principles of contracting, contract law and related legislative requirements.
Other qualifications, skills and experience required include;
- Strong commercial accument,
- Knowledge of construction techniques and methodologies for the oil and gas industry,
- Technical or industry-related experience in gas transmission projects,
- Must possess the ability to influence and lead negotiations with internal and external stakeholders,
- Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders,
- Highly developed time management and organisational skills, including prioritisation of work load,
- Highly developed interpersonal skills.
This role requires someone with strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to produce professional reports and correspondence.
