Iplex Pipelines was established in Australia in 1938 and over the past eight decades has grown to become a recognised leader in the supply of pipeline products to the water and gas industries. Today the company is a wholly owned division of Fletcher Building Ltd with seven manufacturing sites and fourteen distribution sites located throughout Australia.

The Haughton Pipeline project is a major piece of infrastructure for Townsville and will be constructed over an 18 month period. Iplex is supplying GRP pipe and fittings to Townsville City Council (TCC) who will free issue to the Contractors installing the pipe.

About the role – 
We currently have an opening for a Site Interface Person (SIP). In this role you will work as part of our National Projects Team to oversee and manage a range of specific activities involved with the delivery (in Townsville only) and installation of the pipe and fittings.

This is a varied and dynamic role, and your responsibilities will include:
  • Being the first point of contact for Iplex for all site related issues.
  • Inspection of pipe once it arrives into Townsville 
  • Facilitating smooth custody transfer of materials to TCC 
  • Overseeing installation, including conducting random inspection and reporting

You will be required to accommodate a work roster which aligns with the arrival of material shipments and site based activities, i.e. possibly a 21/7 site work roster.  

About you – 
To be successful in this role you will have the following skills and experience:
  • A proven track record in a site based material handling/quality inspection role.
  • Certification as a QA Inspector
  • Experience in interpreting and understanding drawings and specifications.
  • Knowledge in handling plastics and metals pipe and fittings systems
  • A customer focused approach with experience in face-to-face client engagement
  • The ability to plan and organise tasks across both logistics and construction activities
  • The ability to establish systems and processes for product inspection and management, and develop/ fine tune these as needed.
  • Strong negotiation and influencing skills
  • Project management experience
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Clear communication skills (both written and verbal)
  • Competent in Microsoft Office (Word/Excel/Project/Visio). Experience with JD Edwards would be advantageous.

This is 9 month, fixed term contract, with potential to extend based on project needs. Please note, we are only considering Townsville based candidates at this time.
