Due to expanded opportunity for our Company, we require the services of an experienced site-based Construction & Estimating Manager to oversee our teams working in the Northern Bowen Basin. The role site-based in the mining sector, oversees our existing teams and is dual focused on both the estimation/quoting of new site construction jobs/ R&M work and the coordination and provisioning of the teams that carry out the works.

This is a high-level role requiring experience in construction/maintenance estimating, and team management and an attractive hourly rate with bonus structure is negotiable.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Sourcing of new opportunities with existing clients
  • Liaison with Customer representatives
  • Maintenance and positive development of existing and new customer relationships
  • Estimation & quoting on a range of construction (new) and maintenance opportunities
  • Following up on opportunities through to award of job
  • Safe and efficient planning & execution of all jobs in line with Customer/Minesite site safety and other guidelines
  • Job scheduling, coordination & procurement/purchasing
  • Management of site safety requirements including scopes, SOP’s, JSA’s, work permits etc
  • Scheduling of team personnel, team management & supervision
  • Engagement and coordination/scheduling of external suppliers as required
  • Optimisation of use/costs of company and other equipment and resources
  • Monitoring of projects/jobs to ensure safe delivery within expected timeframes, on budget and within accepted profitability
  • Financial management of your division through to invoicing phase
  • QA & reporting to Customers and internally on a scheduled basis
  • Take personal responsibility for driving and developing the profitability and expansion of your division

 

Personal demonstrable skills & abilities

  • Significant prior experience in a role with similar responsibilities within the Construction / Mining Industry
  • Carpentry/building or other associated trade background with significant building experience
  • Safety First - uncompromising commitment to safe working practice and strict adherence to all site safety processes
  • Experience customer liaison & stakeholder management
  • A diversity of building/construction experience
  • Project costing & financial management experience
  • Team leadership & management skills across a variety of trades
  • Commitment to delivering jobs on time and on budget without compromising safety or quality
  • Some previous experience working on black coal mine sites and familiarity with surface infrastructure including wash plants etc is preferred.
  • High level written and verbal communication skills
  • You MUST have computer literacy and the ability to confidently use MS Word, Outlook, Excel etc
  • Preferably you will have some experience working with a computerised job costing and procurement system

 

In addition to the above – to be eligible for this role you must have or be willing to undertake:

  • Qld Coal Board Medical
  • Queensland S11 – Surface
  • S123 & G2
  • Undertake pre-employment and regular drug & alcohol testing
  • Current Driver’s License

  • Work Vehicle, phone, laptop etc for Company work use provided
  • Camp Meals & Accommodation provided
  • The role is suited to persons within DIDO distance or living locally to Moranbah
  • High rate of hourly remuneration plus bonus structure negotiable
  • Annual/sick leave payable plus Super on all hours
