You will be instrumental in the provision of surveillance for records of engineering subdivision/development works in order to confirm works are undertaken in accordance with approved designs, construction certificates, specification, policies and procedures.
Key activities of this role include:
- Providing surveillance of the implementation of Contractor's traffic control plans on site and liaise with Contractors on issues that arise from implementation of traffic control plans.
- Assessing civil engineering works in the field for compliance with relevant consent conditions, approved civil works designs and construction certificates Council's specifications, procedures and policies.
- Identifying issues with works in the field that may require referral to Council’s Development Construction Engineer or Council’s Principal Development Construction Engineer for resolution.
Essential Criteria:
- Certificate III qualification in Civil Construction or related field OR demonstrated solid contemporary experience in a similar role, combined with ongoing professional development.
- Current Class C Driver’s Licence.
- Demonstrated experience in civil works in the field of road construction, earthworks, water and sewer reticulation, erosion and sediment control, trunk drainage, traffic facilities, earthworks and traffic control at work sites.
- Demonstrated understanding of infrastructure construction including roads and drainage, water and sewerage facilities, erosion control techniques, trunk drainage, traffic facilities, earthworks, and traffic control at work sites.
- Proven experience and understanding of a variety of construction works with the ability to vary the requirements of specifications to suit particular field conditions.
- A good knowledge of civil engineering construction techniques and specifications.
- Effective communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to provide good customer service.
- Well-developed negotiating and influencing skills to work with the public and Council staff, and to resolve in a rational and objective manner the issues that arise with contractors during project delivery.
This role provides a salary range between $1178.45 - $1414.00 per week ($61,444 - $73,725 per annum) + superannuation
A vehicle is provided for official duties and private use leaseback is available in accordance with Council’s Vehicle Policy.
