Our Operations

One of Australia’s largest mines and a complex minerals processing operation, Olympic Dam, is unique in that we produce Copper, Uranium, Gold and Silver. This is an Adelaide based role.


About the role

Reporting to the Manager Project Services, this integral role provides facilitation and direction in structuring and controlling the project scope, developing predictable cost estimates, and achievable plans and schedules, monitoring budgets, commitments and actual costs, managing changes, measuring progress and reporting/analysing forecasts and identification of project trends to influence on-time and on-budget delivery of Asset projects.


In this role you will:

  • Be first and foremost focused on creating a culture of care by being a visible safety leader, engaging, developing and coaching your team
  • Ensure consistent application of processes used on all assigned projects
  • Effectively guide Project Services personnel allocated to the project
  • Effectively track and monitor all project services elements of the project to influence on-time and on-budget delivery of the project’s objectives
  • Provide strategic guidance to Project Teams for the efficient delivery of assigned projects
  • Maintain effective change management discipline on all assigned projects
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of Project Services processes and functional plans
  • Monitor Project Services data and reports to ensure timely on-budget delivery of the project’s objectives
  • Oversee implementation of Contractor Project Services/Controls teams when required
  • Contribute to the identification and implementation of improvement initiatives and offer expertise and input to value improvement practices
  • Work under the direction of a Manager Studies/Project Delivery to ensure deployed Project Services resources and third parties (eg: Implementation Contractors) deliver high-quality outputs and analysis
  • Collaborate with Finance to ensure accurate reporting of project commercial information to support Group Reporting and Planning processes


About you:

  • Demonstrate the confidence to lead by example, hold yourself and others accountable and coach others in ‘Safety Leadership’
  • Undergraduate qualifications in Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or a related field
  • Ability to influence, engage with & communicate effectively across multiple business units and functional areas
  • Ability to coordinate and facilitate the delivery of multiple deliverables with competing priorities
  • Exposure to key business systems, including 1SAP, EcoSys, P6, Excel, etc.
  • Ability to assess the accuracy of data provided by contractors and facilitate /coordinate Project Status updates and reporting
  • Previous experience as Project Controls Manager or similar within an Engineering Study and/or Brownfield execution environment.
