About us

Development Victoria will deliver property and precinct development projects to meet government’s policy objectives and apply its experience and expertise to the delivery of civic projects that enhance our state. Development Victoria staff are skilled in realising opportunities and managing risks to develop publicly owned land and deliver complex projects.

Some of Development Victoria’s current projects include the revitalisation of central Dandenong, the Ballarat West Employment Zone, and the ongoing development of Docklands. It also oversees important civic projects such as the State Library, Flinders Street Station and Melbourne Park redevelopments. Projects in the pipeline include renewal of the Arden and Fishermans Bend precincts.



About the role

We are seeking an Assistant Project Manager to support the delivery of the State Library and Melbourne’s Arts Centre. This role will be responsible for the development of project briefs and management plans, the procurement of goods and services, including the writing of tender documents and the day-to-day management of consultants, stakeholders and contractors.

Key accountabilities will include:

  • Assist with the management of consultants, stakeholders and clients through engaging consultants, developing procurement documentation and managing evaluation processes.
  • Supervise consultants, ensuring they are delivering their scope of services and performing as expected, including meeting all deadlines.
  • Authorise payments to consultants upon an assessment of work completed.
  • Negotiate and manage corporate contracts and service agreements.
  • Assist in the preparation of briefs and ministerial correspondence, key project reports, and develop agendas and complete meeting action items for project team, client and stakeholder meetings.
  • Contribute expertise to the team by participating in project strategy setting, developing and monitoring short-term programs and work plans, and conducting complex or technical investigations on items of project significance.
  • Develop and update project plans including project management plans, stakeholder plans, procurement plans and risk reports.
  • Oversee and manage the day-to-day activities associated with coordinating and delivering a construction project within a live operating environment.
  • Desired Skills and Experience

 

As a key contributor to the team, you will have excellent written and verbal communication, together with your exceptional stakeholder management skills that have ideally been refined over the last 1-3 years in your previous work in an Assistant Project Manager or Project Coordinator role.

You will be keen to develop your construction industry and development process knowledge in exchange you will offer our team your strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, the ability to learn new systems and new processes quickly will be essential in securing this opportunity. An appropriate tertiary qualification in project management or related field will also be highly regarded.
