Your New Role 

Reporting directly to management, you will be responsible for the delivery of multiple jobs at once as well as focusing and expanding upon existing partnerships with existing stakeholders. A typical day may start from ensuring all employees have been assigned jobs, preparing equipment and material onsite, supervising progress jobs by checking in, answering to property managers regarding emergency jobs, inspecting quote requests, approving time sheets and even installing a commercial door on a quieter day.

You will have an in-depth technical understanding of the carpentry trade as well as relevant knowledge of plumbing, painting, plastering, tiling, carpet installation, ceiling tile installation, to be able to quote new business and tender submission. You will be dealing with clients, property managers, landlords, tenants, professional and sub-contractors on site, at the forefront of the team ensuring all business processes are followed correctly. Ensuring budgets and timelines are adhered to, you will be required to provide regular updates to clients and trouble-shoot with your direct reports. At times you may need to provide hands on carpentry assistance to assist work-flow. Collaboration is important to keep the family environment, so mentoring juniors plays a part in the role

 

Selection Criteria:

1.     It is highly regarded that you have trade qualification in carpentry, with minimum 2 years hands on experience

2.     A minimum of 3 years project management experience.

3.     Must provide examples of managing workforce and motivating them to tight deadlines.

4.     Excellent knowledge of building products, construction details and relevant rules, regulations and quality standards.

5.     Excellent leadership and communication skills

6.     At least 3 references must be provided.

 

Duties:

  • Management of trades on site and foreman 
  • Overseeing all onsite and offsite constructions to monitor compliance with building and safety regulations.
  • Reporting to commercial property managers and providing recommendations on quote repair options.
  • Mentoring Junior staff
  • Coordination of trades in line with the construction schedule 
  • The ability to work across projects from small projects (installing a commercial door) to completing a large office fit out.  
  • Preparation of project documentation and reports.
  • Ensure quality assurance of all works is completed.
  • Ensuring all materials and equipment have been ordered in a timely manner
  • Carrying out the on-site handover and final inspection with the client
  • Liaise closely with the client and subcontractors regarding both progress and performance on the site. 
  • Scheduling subcontractors and resources to meet project requirements.
  • Scheduling employees, by assigning them to pending jobs.
  • Reporting all stages of the project in SIMPRO project management software
  • Prepare project schedule and ensure the project is on track, report project progress to Director on weekly basis.
  • Liaise with architect, consultants, sub-contractors, supplier, certifier and council officer etc.
  • Liase with our office estimators for accurate quoting and budgeting. 
  • Complete project within budget, time frame and with high quality.
  • Negotiation of agreements, drafting contracts and obtaining permits and licences.
  • Provide some hands-on assistance when required.
