ABOUT THE ROLE:

We are seeking an Experienced Structural, Mechanical and Piping Estimating Manager to be a part of a team; you will report directly to the CEO at our Head Office in Carole Park.

Specific duties will include:

  • Developing Targets for your team and ensuring they are achieved.
  • Develop first principals estimates for the Mechanical construction  scope on major construction projects;
  • Foster relationships with new and existing clients;
  • Maintain currency with industry trends and new design and construction technology;
  • Ensure quality, safety and environmental requirements are accommodated in tender submissions;
  • Follow up and analysis of RFQs;
  • Perform tender/project risk assessment to determine financial risk;
  • Undertake Tender Review Meetings with peers and Senior Management team;
  • Ensure tender deadlines are met;
  • Ensure the tender process is regularly reviewed to identify opportunities for improvement;
  • Utilises knowledge of estimating and project planning techniques, to ensure that winning tenders are completed profitably;
  • Development and improvement of estimating procedures and tools;
  • Perform a constant analysis of lost bids and completed projects and use this information to determine where cost savings can be made to make recommendations to management;
  • In conjunction with Senior Management, participate at contract negotiations.
  • Once tender has been successful, coordinate and arrange for contract exchange.
  • Responsible for tender values from up to 30 million.
  • Report relevant KPIs for monthly Board report.
  • Ongoing advice to Project Managers with regards to tender information after project won.
  • In conjunction with Contracts Administrator review contract details relevant to the Company's ability to deliver under the contract.
  • Provide feedback to Senior Managers regarding commercial contracts exposure on the proposed project.
  • In conjunction with Senior Management, participate at contract negotiations.
  • Once tender has been successful, coordinate and arrange for contract exchange.
  • Coordinate and conduct "handover" meeting with the project team, providing detailed briefing of the tender requirements.
  • As necessary, provide support and respond to tender queries made by project team personnel.
  • Coach / mentor in assisting direct reports to develop their positions.
  • Provide relevant information to direct reports enabling them to effectively carry out their functions.
  • Delegate tasks to direct report in line with skill, knowledge and ability.
  • Maintain sound and cooperative working relationships with existing clients.
  • Actively promote the organisation and services offered by the Company.
  • As required, attend and participate at industry functions.

ABOUT YOU

You are degree qualified (in either Engineering or Management) Advantageous , with a minimum of 5 years' experience as an Estimating Manager .

YOU WILL POSSESS:

  • Minimum 5 years' experience as an Estimator Manager with (Must have a Mechanical, Structural, Piping, Construction background);
  • Excellent skills in planning, organising and working to time lines and scheduling
  • Skills to Coach and mentor your team to achieve their KPI's;
  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite;
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills;
  • Clear understanding of Appropriate Australian Codes and Standards, OH&S Codes and Standards;
  • Ability to respond to a changing work environment and embrace processes;
  • Exposure to estimating or cost planning software, experience with FastTrack and/or Expert Estimator would be an advantage but not essential;
  • Self-motivated and able to work autonomously;
  • Ability to work well under pressure;
  • Exercise attention to detail;
