About the role

We are looking for a health and safety champion who will build on what we already have in place and will lead, promote and maintain our health, safety, and wellbeing requirements. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and driven professional who is able to think strategically and execute in a 'hands on' operational environment.

This is a national role and will drive health & safety awareness, culture, injury management and wellbeing across our Australian business. This role will also ensure the business complies with legislative, regulatory and safety legislation, to ensure a safe, secure and appropriate operating environment is maintained across the business. 

This role is also responsible for managing and maintaining the company’s integrated Safety, Quality and Environmental Management Systems and compliance, essentially covering all WHSEQ requirements across the company.

To be successful and effective in this role, you will:

  • Lead by example and know how to energise, influence and collaborate across the business.
  • Be committed to a progressive and preventative approach to safety management.
  • Track record of implementing and managing an integrated WHSEQ System.
  • Be comfortable making robust recommendations to management.
  • Be experienced in Root Cause Analysis, particularly as it relates to incident investigation and formal reporting.
  • Have experience in the Construction Industry and preferably in the electrical and/or Audio Visual and/or Telecommunications trades.

You will need passion and strong leadership experience to proactively support the health, safety and wellbeing of employees, and ensure Rutledge AV compliance in all areas of WHSEQ. You will have a natural desire to keep abreast of legislative changes and best practice.

Responsibilities include:

  • Manage the implementation of the WHSEQ Management Systems at all levels.
  • Communicate and advise key stakeholders of any legislative requirements, particularly changes to them.
  • In conjunction with external auditors and our internal operations team, coordinate, guide and attend annual surveillance, and recertification audits.
  • Ensure site personnel are equipped with appropriate WHSEQ procedures and documentation so they are able to manage the site safely and in accordance with WHSEQ regulations.
  • Manage all WHSEQ documentation ensuring it is well maintained and up to date.
  • Ensure WHSEQ training needs are identified and facilitate and/or conduct WHSEQ training.
  • Regularly visit and inspect project sites, providing advice on WHSEQ related matters.
  • Prepare monthly WHSEQ reports for Executive Leadership meetings.

Skills & experience

  • Minimum five years’ experience in OHS/WHS, Environment and Quality Systems.
  • Clear understanding of ISO 14001, ISO 9001 and AS 4801/ISO 45001 Standards and their practical implementation.
  • Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent relevant qualifications.
  • Lead auditor qualification in WHS and/or Quality (desirable)
