As such, an opportunity has arisen for an experienced Estimator to join the construction estimating team. You will be involved in a diverse range of projects across commercial, residential, education, health, institutional, aged care and many other sectors. Reporting to the Chief Estimator you will be part of the Construction Estimating Team and will assist with the preparation of diverse tenders. This role will best suit a self-motivated individual, who possesses the ability to coordinate multiple tasks, is able to build effective relationships with both internal and external stake holders and has effective communication skills – both written and verbal. The successful candidate will have Building Contractor Estimating experience, combined with a proven track record of compiling competitive tenders up to $15M in construction value.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Managing the tendering, commercial and financial budgets and submissions of allocated projects
• Set up, oversee and develop the tendering processes
• Sourcing quality sub-contractors and suppliers and be involved in selecting tenders
• Compiling competitive tenders up to $15M in construction value
• Recommending capital and overhead expenditure and project expenditure as per the schedule
• Utilising effective time management and organisational skills with the ability to undertake multiple tenders at one time
• Ensuring time lines are met with respect of tender submission dates
• Working with other team members and business units to achieve targets and budgets
• Maintaining the database of local sub-contractors and ensure up to date
• Communicate with clients and customers as required. 
• Working across multiple locations which will require travel  (Melbourne Metro region)

Key Selection Criteria

• Experience as an Estimator with a Tier 1 or 2 Commercial Builder
• Strong background in Commercial Construction
• Tertiary qualifications in Building & Construction or related discipline or proven experience providing a diverse range of estimating and cost control services
• Current and valid motor vehicle license
• Excellent communication skills – both written and verbal
• Ability to build effective relationships with both internal and external stake holders
• Knowledge of technical standards in preparing estimates and project costings
• Practical knowledge of quality management and continuous improvement practices and processes
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work to deadlines
• Competent with MS Office, MS Project and construction estimating software such as Buildsoft
