Newcastle City Council is a highly regarded and well respected local government organisation committed to serving the vibrant community of Newcastle. The Council’s Customer Contact Centre provides a ‘one stop shop’ for all general Council enquiries. We are seeking dynamic Customer Service Officers to be our primary point of contact. In this role you will have varied work duties that see you rotate through call centre, front of house and administration functions.
The Job Opportunity
Newcastle City Council is looking to fill multiple full time permanent and fixed term vacancies. You must have full availability to work shifts on a rotating roster between the hours of 7am and 6pm, Monday to Friday. Training for these positions will commence in early September.
The key duties of these roles:
• Respond to and resolve a variety of enquiries from the public efficiently providing information and solutions
• Communicate accurate information such as Council policies and procedures
• Assess and register information lodged through Council applications
• Perform cashiering functions
• Assist visitors to Council
The Successful Candidate
To be successful in this position you must meet the following criteria:
• Relevant experience in a customer service role
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Sound negotiation and conflict resolution skills
• Experience prioritising multiple tasks with competing deadlines
• Comprehensive computer literacy
• Certificate III or above in a business or customer related qualification (desirable)
