Corporate & Institutional Banking Analyst

Job Purpose:

The Analyst will support the management of corporate and institutional customers within Australia. This support will be critical to their role within the Portfolio team, focussing on customer and industry risk analysis. Importantly, the Portfolio team plays a key role in achieving the Bank’s risk / return targets through conducting credit reviews and monitoring in accordance with the Bank’s internal procedures.

Key day to day tasks will include the preparation of high quality credit proposals, (incorporating deal structuring, historical and forward looking financial and industry analysis), client presentations, compliance with internal processes and policies and other ad hoc support to the relationship managers.

Your Team:

The Australian Corporate & Institutional Banking team is part of the broader Asian Oceania Corporate Banking team which focuses on Australia’s leading corporate and financial institutional customers.

The Team maintains strong customer relationships whilst partnering with other product teams including Loan Markets & Syndications, Securitisation, Trade Finance, Treasury, Transaction Banking, Mitsubishi UFJ Securities / Morgan Stanley, the Project Finance business within Australia, and other key stakeholders in the Bank (Operations, Compliance and Legal) to deliver a range of financial services to our customers.

Key Tasks and Core

Responsibilities:

The duties of the Analyst are to support the Vice Presidents and Relationship Managers in the Corporate & Institutional Banking Department with the deployment of a range of products and services to its existing customers and support of new business generation.

Account Management - The Analyst will be responsible for a portfolio of clients with a focus on credit quality monitoring and the achievement of the Bank’s risk / return targets through:

• conducting credit reviews;
• covenant compliance monitoring;
• supporting refinancing and other revenue initiatives across the portfolio; and
• any other required tasks in accordance with the Bank’s policies and procedures.

Portfolio Management - Support the national CIB Portfolio team in the leadership of portfolio analysis, including a focus on sector risk / return and other strategic review processes.

New to Bank Credit Proposals - Support the origination of new Australian based institutional and corporate clients through preparation of credit proposals

Education:

• Accounting / Commerce / Law Degree from a leading university is essential
• CFA, CPA / CA or a relevant Masters qualification will be considered favourably

Professional

Training

Professional training in relevant fields are preferable but not mandatory

Work Experience:

2 years’ experience in a major domestic bank or chartered accounting firm. We will also consider candidates from investment banks, investment management firms or from corporate treasury teams.

Competencies (Essential)

The ideal candidate should have:

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office in particular, MS Excel and the ability to build and modify financial models;
• Possess an understanding of financial and economic markets;
• Be able to engage in independent research & analysis of customers and markets; and
• The ability to communicate clearly both in writing and verbally.
