JS Careers have been exclusively engaged to source a Senior Operational Risk & Compliance professional for a leading investment management business in Sydney. Reporting to the Head of Risk and Compliance, this person will be required to lead independent risk and compliance based reviews of business areas and processes to ensure that it's regulatory standards are being met. Furthermore, the incumbent will participate in the evaluation, ongoing development, implementation and maintenance of the firm's compliance framework.
Key Responsibilities:
- Partner with the Head of Risk & Compliance on key risk projects, including firm wide risk initiatives.
- Implementation of risk mitigation strategies for critical risks, and the ongoing monitoring of these risks.
- Identify and address material risks which include operational, investment, market, credit, regulatory and reputational risks in relation to major new initiatives taken by the business such as strategic opportunities, business cases, new financial products and structures.
- Facilitation of the risk and control self assessment program in conjunction with business functions where required.
- Play a key role in the design of controls when required.
- Ongoing development, implementation and maintenance of the firm's compliance management framework, having regard to its business and strategic objectives.
- Assess the impact of local and global regulatory obligations on the businesses activities.
- Preparation of risk and compliance reports for board reporting.
Suitable candidates will possess:
- Educated to at least a Bachelors degree with 8 + years experience in Operational Risk, Investment Risk or Compliance.
- An understanding of funds/asset management or custody.
- An understanding of the Australian and international regulatory environment pertaining to Asset/Investment Management.
- Experience in controls testing.
- System administrator experience in risk and compliance systems.
- The role requires a candidate, who is an effective manager of senior stakeholder relationships, and able to see projects through to the end.
- Strong report writing and communication skills.
