Our client is well positioned for their next phase of growth. They have a strong, diverse asset portfolio inclusive of gas and oil production, as well as ongoing exploration and appraisal activities.
A contract vacancy has arisen for a Deputy Group Finance Controller to join the Corporate Finance team in Sydney CBD. You will work closely with the Corporate Finance team, ensuring adherence to timelines, project plans and financial governance protocols in addition to providing quality control over the team’s deliverables.
Key accountabilities include:
- Provide daily direction and oversight of the Corporate Finance team’s activities and outputs ensuring delivery of KPI’s
- Oversee period-end reporting obligations including completion of internal governance processes, external audit process, preparation and review of Audit Committee papers, statutory financial statements and other market releases
- Provide input into the design and implementation of the new IFRS 16 Leases accounting standard
- Deliver quarterly forecasting processes, market guidance updates and the 2019 budget including the preparation and review of supporting Board papers
- Assist with the development of financial and corporate governance processes for newly acquired/established assets
- Review of monthly management reports
- Provide accounting advice related to major project expansion activities including company and licence amalgamation and accounting implications for commercial structures
To be considered for this position you will possess the following experience:
- Chartered Accountant or CPA qualifications
- Previous experience in a group financial reporting role within a publicly listed Oil & Gas or Resources company
- Experience in the coordination and preparation of group budgeting, forecasting and performance reporting
- Experience in the interpretation of complex commercial arrangements and conversion into accounting advice
- Experience managing small to medium sized teams with effective coaching and mentoring skills
- Understanding ERP systems with SAP experience preferable
- Strong attention to detail, resilience, and highly developed communication skills
