As a provider of audit services Deloitte is required to comply with various professional and ethical obligations to be independent of the clients we audit. The Deloitte independence consultations team performs a critical consultative and risk management function and is responsible for providing advice on matters relating to maintaining the perceived and actual independence of Deloitte, its partners and professionals. We take pride in providing practical and timely advice to the business to enable them to provide services to clients while also protecting the Firm's reputation.

The independence consultations team is seeking a full time senior analyst/consultant to support the team on a range of independence matters. The role will report to the managers in the team and you will use your analytical, research, investigative skills and passion for client service to carry out the following:

  • Daily management and allocation of consultations within the team; Responding to queries from internal and client facing teams within agreed timeframes which include consultations in relation to scope of services, matters arising from client mergers and acquisitions, affiliate relationships, external appointments, and other parts of the Independence Policy.
  • Supporting the team on independence policy and regulatory matters which include updates to the independence policy.
  • Assist with entity research and audit clearances, as well as various projects which include the development and updating of training materials, development of procedures and implementing improvements within the team.

About your experience

The ideal candidate will be early to mid-career with a Bachelors’ degree (preferably business, finance or accounting) with experience in a professional services environment. Audit or risk management experience would be desirable. You must be a collaborative, service-minded person who is always ready to roll-up your sleeves to manage or action requests from our internal clients. You will rely on your experience to provide pragmatic advice that balances the needs of the business with the independence of the Firm.

The desired skills required include:
• Strong analytical skills and comfortable in interpreting and applying rules to a range of circumstances
• Experience in professional services
• Excellent verbal and written business communication skills
• Strong sense of urgency/prioritization and know when to seek guidance
• Able to apply critical thinking in evaluating different business scenarios/outcomes
• Knowledge of corporate structures and financial products (desirable)
