The Retail Pricing team is part of the broader Retail Products and Strategy team with the Retail Bank. The team is responsible for building a market leading Pricing capability across Retail Products.

The team’s objectives are to improve the Bank’s revenue profile and generate Shareholder Value, while minimising risk, through:

  • An Australia market leading Pricing capability
  • World class Pricing models, tools and systems.
  • Revenue optimisation analysis of the Bank’s retail products portfolio
  • Reporting and analytics accompanied by proactive recommendations on pricing strategy
  • Appropriate safeguards and controls

The broad team has end-to-end expertise in price modelling, subsequent design and price execution. It is also responsible for Distribution Analytics to help optimise Lending Staff and the branch network. In addition, the team is also currently developing and executing whole of customer pricing, and will be the visionary advocates for customer level pricing.

Do work that matters

As a manager and future leader within the team you play a critical, leading role in defining and executing the pricing strategy across the Retail Products set with the end goal of achieving world-class capability. You will also lead the development and refinement of Tools and Experiments that support the execution of granular pricing across the Retail Bank. Through achieving world-best pricing capability the bank is able to service customers in a more tailored manner while achieving incremental profitable growth.

Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Play a leading role in partnership with the Retail Product teams in developing and articulating strategic pricing agendas and leading the subsequent execution.
  • Lead the design, development and implementation of advanced pricing architectures (e.g. Risk Based Pricing, Customer Pricing Elasticity, Bundle Pricing etc.) aligned to the strategic priorities of the Product teams and Retail Bank.
  • Partner with the Product Management team to ensure the ongoing optimisation of pricing across all price types (e.g. headline rates, discretions etc.) and customer segments.
  • Provide regular analysis, commentary and insights that support proactive recommendations regarding pricing changes.
  • Project manage the development of technical solutions forming part of pricing architectures, by leading Enterprise Services resources, change managers and other stakeholders in achieving a common goal.
  • Work with the Price Modelling team to define modelling requirements and deploy models to optimise pricing outcomes.
  • Own and drive pricing experimentation inclusive of active tests and pipeline of future opportunities across Retail Products.
  • Own results tracking, benefits realisation and model refinement.
  • Train and provide best practice guidance to product pricing teams to embed consistent capability.
  • Partner with lines of business to meet ad hoc pricing analytics requirements.

  • Have the ability to drive innovative and creative thinking in customer pricing. 
  • Possess excellent strategic thinking and commercial acumen.
  • Have a strong understanding of and experience in the design and execution of pricing programmes (in either the banking, insurance, supermarket or telecommunications industries) or experience in banking product management involving price sensitive products.
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Strong leadership and relationship building skills. Will need to establish effective working relationships with a diverse number of areas across the Bank.
  • Experience with retail banking products preferable but not essential
