Expense Analyst - Contract

Sydney

A leading Financial Services firm based in Sydney are seeking a Expense Analyst/Cost Accountant for an initial 6 month contract.

Duties:

• Gain in-depth understanding of the cost base and gain an understanding of what is driving the variances and risks in each area. 
• Provide support to the business lines with monthly cost centre reporting, budgeting, forecasting and attending to ad-hoc enquiries from the business.
• Assist with the business’ forecasting and annual budgeting processes.
• Develop and maintain dialogue with cost centre managers pro-actively educating and assisting them to understand their expenses and better manager their business.
• Analyse the monthly expense and cost recovery information commenting on variances as well as highlighting issues and cost reduction opportunities.
• Review monthly cost reports across the team for consistency, accuracy and appropriateness of commentary.
• Facilitate monthly deep dive analysis on key cost variables.

Ideal candidate:

• CA/CPA Qualified
• 3-4 years’ experience as a business, financial, expense or cost analyst in a Financial Services firm
• Experience in management reporting
• Experience in producing reports, analysis and commentary for senior management including ability to tailor reports to different levels of management
• Experience in preparing annual budgets and negotiating with business to achieve set targets.
