AME is a global research and advisory house with over 48 years in the commodities industry, specialising in Oil & Gas, Metals and Mining. With offices in Sydney and London, we provide the bridge between the complexity of industry analytics and commercial reality. Our clients (who are banks, investment and financial institutions, as well as large complex multi-nationals) gain real, actionable insight with our financial models, valuations and market analysis.

We are looking for an Economist to work with us to provide insightful written work, forecast and maintain key economic indicators, develop demand models and to help with the alignment of AME's view with your economic knowledge.

The role involves a large amount of written opinion which will be reflected in AME's daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly written research. Your role will be to take ownership for the economic section for AME's quarterly strategic reports, the macroeconomic section of monthly Outlooks, weekly economics pieces and daily news. 

To be successful in this role you will need to have an engaging written style, exceptional communication skills, an interest in the commodities/Oil and Gas industries and well developed modelling skills. An interest in forecasting and maintaining key economic indicators is also required.

Role and Responsibilities

• Development of economic models for demand of commodities, oil & gas globally
• Forecasting and maintaining key economic indicators
• Writing insightful research for AME's various research products on a daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly basis
• Providing analysis of global market trends

Personal Attributes, Skills and Experience

• Bachelors and/or Masters degree in Economics
• 2-5 years experience as an economist or journalist
• Experience writing articles, thought pieces and other insightful content for business professionals
• An interest in, or previous exposure to the global commodities and energy industries
• Ability to conduct research across a wide range of sources
• Great attention to detail
• Well honed organisational skills
